1932–33 Stoke City F.C. season
The 1932–33 season was Stoke's 40th season of league football and the 13th in the Second Division.
Overview
The season 1932–33 proved to be a successful one for Stoke as promotion back to the First Division. Tom Mather brought in just two new players during the season as few players were needed. Stoke produced the results needed and took the Second Division title in style finishing six points above 3rd place Fulham and one above Tottenham.
Stoke archived a number of records during a memorable season such as most wins in the Football League (25), the best goal average in the top two leagues (2.000), the best away record in Division Two, and the best defensive record. Bob McGrory didn't make many appearances as he started to begin coaching work and he was tipped to be the successor to Tom Mather. Joe Mawson became leading goalscorer for the second season running with 16 goals.
